Dónal Glackin is a professional photographer with over 15 years of experience working across editorial, portraiture, commercial, and cultural projects. His passion for photography began at the age of 15, when he built his own darkroom — a dedication that has shaped a lifelong commitment to the craft.
His early editorial work with Irish Runner magazine marked a significant milestone in his career, where his landscape photography featured in a monthly two-page spread highlighting Ireland’s most spectacular running trails. This collaboration quickly expanded to include event coverage and portrait assignments, broadening his visual storytelling across the publication.
Dónal has since developed a long-term photographic portrait collection of Donegal Fiddle Players for Cairdeas na bhFidileirí. The body of work has been exhibited in Ireland and internationally, with further exhibitions scheduled for 2026.
His work within the music industry includes album artwork collaborations with Barry Kerr (Curlews Cry – Folk Album of the Year 2026), Liam O’Connor & Cormac Begley (Into the Loam), and Seán Potts (Number 6).
Alongside his artistic projects, Dónal has worked with commercial clients including Nike, the Gaelic Players Association, Bank of Ireland, and numerous Irish production companies, providing photography for television productions nationwide.
